Core Bit Cleaning & Stamping Cell

The core bit automation cell is specially designed to perform part identification stamping and ultrahigh-pressure cleaning. Using a floor mount ABB robot, the robot will pick up parts that have been fed from a previous process. The robot is equipped with an end-of-arm gripper/rotating device capable of picking up 15 different diameter and style part variations. Once the part has been picked up by the robot, it will be transferred to a serializer, where it will be impact marked for identification. Two impact printing fixtures are used; one for small diameter parts, which rotates the part to aid the printing onto a curved surface, and a second stationary location for larger diameter parts. When the serializer completes the marking procedure, the robot again picks up the part and places it into the enclosed cleaning booth. The robot rotates and slowly moves the part over two different types of high pressure water nozzles for a fixed period of time to remove excess brazing and carbon particles. With the completion of the high-pressure cleaning cycle, the robot moves the part over an air blow-off to remove any water left on the part prior to removal from the cleaning booth. The robot will proceed and move the part onto an indexing conveyor for final drying .
